Classic Oil of two generations of German soldiers. The father on the left is wearing the WWI Iron Cross ribbon with 1939 Spange, denoting that this was his second go around at World Wars. Dark clouds in the background are giving way to light on the horizon providing an optimistic view that the war will work its way to victory. Artist signed T Weisch
A somber oil reflectis the darkening times. The silhouttes of two soldiers against a background of burning buildings. Artist "W" and dated 42 in lower tright corner.
Idyllic scene of a Luftwaffe airfield in 1940. Artist named on rear along with date. This was a scene that would have been the norm in 1940, planes lined up in the open, a formation of JU-87s approaching. As the war moved on airfields like this were under constant assualt by the Allies making this only an image of the past .
Bold Painting of a Quad 20mm Flak wagon engaging enemy aircraft at night over a harbor. Stark reprentation of what life was becomng in Germany under the Allied bombing campaign. The quad 20mm did not come out until 1942 so this painting was likely a later war piece. The artist signed it T. Hochard in the lower left corner.
Powerful Image of an SS Infantryman looking out in the classic Army recruitment poster, except this one was painted with a Waffen SS.soldier. Artist signature is MULLER over ROMA. On the rear of this painting in a hand written script that says "Captured by V Corps from SS Headquaters in Nettuno Italy. Thus the "ROMA" was probably Rome a mere 40 miles up the road from Nettuno.
Oil painting of the tools of the Waffen SS soldier.....helmet, camo smock, close combat knofe, P-38 pistol with boxes of ammo, and a Teller mine. This sort of imagery epitomized the warrior creed that the Waffen SS were steeped in. It is probable that the goggles were added to the helmet after the war to cover over the swastika.
Portrait of an unknown Luftwaffe Flak NCO. Luftwaffe Flak units were often the deciding factors in German tactical operations serving not only their primary mission as antiaircraft but also in the anti-tank role. This NCO has already earned the Iron Cross as shown by the ribbon sewn on his lapel. Artist unknown.
